Self Help by Helping Others
Mum of two Lissie wanted to return to work but couldn’t find a full-time job. Her housing association Guinness Hermitage funded a six week coaching course which encouraged her to think about setting up her own business as a companion carer. However, with no assets and a poor credit history, plus needing to work around her children, there were still a number of challenges to overcome.
Lissie approached Fredericks, Gloucester to start her business offering companionship, shopping, appointment transport and other tasks, all aimed at helping people stay more comfortably in their own homes for longer and what she most needed was a specially adapted vehicle for wheelchair users. Lissie was successful at panel and has plans to take on her first employee as another fully trained companion carer in the near future. www.lissiebee.co.uk
