Gareths Green Vision
Smallholder Gareth has been involved in the management of both the natural and built environments for 31 years. He started as Woodsman at the age of 17 but was 'laid off' as the Forestry Industry went into decline in the mid-eighties. He went back to college and studied Construction leaving in 1991 with a BTec Diploma in Building Studies
Gareth values service highly and left his previous job to set up his own business so that he could offer his own clients a high quality, value for money service. However his bank turned him down for finance and so he approached Fredericks for funding to enable him to grow his business.
Gareth intends to achieve his aims by the sensitive and appropriate management of vegetation, installation of high quality countryside furniture manufactured by local companies, construction of paths, steps and bridges to improve access routes and the provision of qualified educational support. The by-products of woodland management such as firewood and charcoal will be sold to the local community. One of his main contracts is with the Woodland Trust.
